All One in Christ
A Catholic Critique of Racism and Critical Race Theory
by Edward Feser
Ignatius Press

Racism is a real problem. Critical Race Theory (CRT), far from being a remedy, makes matters a lot worse and is itself racist. That is my summary of this well-balanced work.

The author tells us that CRT started off as a narrow sub-speciality of jurisprudence. It draws its ideas from the likes of Gramsci, Foucault and Derrida. It is Marxist and like Marxism its aim is not merely academic but to transform society by revolutionary means. Black Lives Matter (BLM) is typical of a CRT based movement. At one time no one would dare criticise BLM for fear of being called racist. We now know that it received millions of dollars from the usual suspects. Now that we have learned how some of that money was spent, we can be critical, so to speak, of the movement without fearing accusations of being racist.

CRT is founded on Marxist and Post-Modernist ideologies. It condemns "white privilege." What this means is you are a racist just by being white. You are guilty, whether you know it or not, of implicit bias. In other words, you may not even be aware of your negative attitudes towards a person of another race.

The kind of racial harmony that Martin Luther King dreamt about in order to  combat racism is not the answer, for purveyors of the CRT cult. What is needed according to them is colour-conscious radical transformation of society. Organisations like BLM have little to say about the large number of black victims of black criminals as this does not reflect their condemnation of white privilege.

Here is a quote that you will not find in this book: "I heard the chief monarch of a thieving raping genocidal empire is finally dying. May her pain be excruciating." You will not find it in the book because these horrible words were uttered by a CRT proponent a few hours before Queen Elizabeth passed away. The words may be thought of as being exceptionally cruel, but, as Edward Feser demonstrates so ably, CRT is rooted in hate. Just like Marxism and Post-Modern Feminism.

Racism is real. CRT is not the remedy. This book shows us why this is the case.
