The CTS has given us the opportunity to listen to two well known speakers on the subject of chastity. Jason Evert's
talk on the addictive nature of pornography is excellent. Very sensibly, he does not dwell on the more unsavoury
elements of the subject. Instead, his talk is on the positive virtue of chastity. The talk reminds us of the many
victims involved in this vice. It is a deeply compassionate presentation with practical advice, especially recourse
to prayer and the sacraments. This is a profoundly Catholic response to a real problem.
Christopher West contrasts authentic sexual freedom with the slavery of lust. His presentation
is easy to follow and his style appeals to many Catholics who are doing their best to follow Christ. Even if this
reviewer sometimes disagreed with the style, the content is certainly Catholic.
Both presentations give us a positive evaluation of the teachings of the Church on human sexuality.
